Led by Chef Rung, Rung is a playful mix of contemporary and classic Japanese cuisine and sushi in a casual, intimate, easy style in fine dining restaurant. Rung continued to delight guests with the freshest and most unique Sashimi, Nigiri and sushi in Chicago over 20years. Coast Sushi restaurant that he started working as a sushi chef. Grand Hyatt Regency hotel in Chicago is the one belong his work experience. 

 

In June 2020, Big Monster Sushi opened its doors during one of the most challenging times in recent history. The world was in the midst of a pandemic, and uncertainty was everywhere. Social distancing, shutdowns, and fear made it a difficult moment to launch a small business but we did it anyway, because we believed in serving our community when it needed comfort the most.

We started with a humble food truck (still open in KOLOA TOWN), determined to bring people together through fresh sushi, all made with love. While many restaurants were forced to close, we kept our window open for the hardworking families, the essential workers, and everyone just looking for a taste of normal. From day one, we stood strong for our island ‘Ohana.

We’ve grown alongside the Kaua‘i community. We’ve seen familiar faces return week after week, shared meals with new friends, and felt the spirit of aloha in every kind word, smile, and order. Your support has meant everything to us and it’s why we’re still here.

Until now we are open brick-and-mortar in LIHUE next to old theater and KAPAA next to big save location.

Our mission remains the same: to bring joy, one roll at a time.
